How thick should the mulch be applied? For brand-new garden beds, we recommend a depth of 3 inches. If you are just refreshing or topping off existing beds, a 2-inch layer is usually perfect. How do I calculate how much mulch I need? First, calculate the total square footage of your garden beds. Then, use these quick formulas based on your desired depth: For a 2-inch depth: Divide your total square footage by 162. For a 3-inch depth: Divide your total square footage by 108. Tip: Always round up to the nearest whole yard! It’s much better to have a little left over than to run short. Can you explain the delivery process? Once you know how many yards you need, head over to our online store to place your order. We will follow up via email to confirm your delivery day and time slot. Driveway Drops: If we are dumping colored mulch on a driveway, we strongly recommend laying down a 14' x 10' (or larger) tarp to prevent potential staining. If rain is expected, having a second tarp on hand to cover the pile is a great idea. Street Drops: No tarp is necessary if we are unloading directly onto the street. The actual drop-off takes our team only about 15 minutes! What if I don’t need as many yards as your minimum order? A great workaround is teaming up with a neighbor! Splitting a larger order is a popular way to meet the minimum yardage requirement and save on delivery fees. Can I pick up my order at your lot? Absolutely. We welcome lot pickups right here in Olathe.
